Center for Internet Security Unveils Trusted Purchasing Alliance

Trusted Purchasing Alliance will focus on providing cost-effective procurement opportunities for state and local governments and not-for-profit entities to improve their cyber security posture.

The Center for Internet Security (CIS), a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving cyber security in the public and private sectors, announced the launch of a new business division focused on providing expert guidance and cost-effective procurement of cyber security solutions for the nation’s state, local, territorial and tribal governments, and not-for-profits.

The Trusted Purchasing Alliance (Alliance) aggregates the purchasing power of both the governmental and not-for-profit sectors to allow all participants the ability to improve their cyber security posture at a lower cost than they could achieve individually.

The Alliance is working with its government and not-for-profit partners to identify their requirements and is then engaging the vendor community to negotiate volume discount purchasing windows. Product and service choices are driven by the positive impact on cyber security infrastructure and customer needs.

The Alliance has established a product review board comprising government partners to review and select potential offerings. Participation in any of the aggregate procurements is voluntary.

“The mission of the Alliance is to maximize buying power to improve the cyber security posture of governments and not-for-profits. The goal is to help organizations in the public sector procure solutions to address cyber security challenges,” said William F. Pelgrin, CIS President and CEO.

“The Alliance provides a neutral, trusted environment public sector organizations can turn to for expert guidance in making informed, cost-effective decisions.”

“We recognize that the procurement process for our customers can be time consuming, costly, and complex,” said Kristin Judge, Executive Director of the Alliance.

“We are helping them navigate that process and bringing opportunities for high-quality, affordable solutions. We look forward to working with our customers and private industry partners in providing this much-needed program.”

Current purchasing opportunities are available for technical and end user trainings, as well as vulnerability management. Additional upcoming buys this year will include solutions for two-factor authentication and encryption.
